Our relief efforts are currently focused on providing aid in two areas in the southern province of Punjab; Muzaffargarh and Kot Adu. We are currently working in 5 village communities with over 10,000, predominantly Muslim people. These people are living on the roadsides and in small makeshift camps. Their villages have been flooded with water; homes and possessions destroyed.
The team on the ground is working closely with the local leaders of these villages. They have rented a house close to the flood affected areas which is being used for the storage, packaging and distribution of food. The homeless are being provided with supplies such as rice, flour, oil, lentils and clean drinking water.
Many of these displaced people have lost their livelihoods as well as possessions and there will be an ongoing need for assistance as the waters subside.
