Thailand Water Project
The Thailand Water Project (TWP) is working towards providing clean water, from an existing water source that is polluted and silty, during the dry season in the Ranong Province. The project managers are also training the people in the local village to maintain this system to help create long term sustainability. TWP works closely with the women of the village who are the main providers of the cooked meals and hygiene in each house.
The project includes:
- Modifications to an existing dam
- Construction of a slow sand filter
- Use of in home sand filtration
- Installation of water meters to apportion costs
The project benefits will include reduction of waterborne sickness and disease during the times of low water flows and education of community members to create a sustainable water management system.
