Situation

An earthquake measuring 7.6 devastated Western Indonesia, hitting the southern coast of Sumatra on 30th September. An aftershock with a magnitude of 6.8 struck just a day later, pulling the total death toll to 1,115 with 1,214 seriously injured.

The destruction was widespread over Padang city and other surrounding areas of Sumatra with more than 135, 000 homes seriously damaged. Buildings, schools and bridges were destroyed, with the heavily populated city Padang, claiming the worst damage.

Our efforts are focused on helping villages in the district Pariaman, West Sumatra province.
